On Thursday, February 2nd the 5th grade science teachers collaborated to create an “Astronomy Night” for the 5th grade students. The girls enjoyed a visit to the campus observatory. Even though it was cloudy that night, it was still an educational experience. Many of the girls did not know that CSH has an observatory on campus. They were so impressed by all the equipment and the fact that the dome opens and rotates! The girls learned how the observatory works. Rick Bria, our resident astronomer, allowed the girls to look through the telescope. Rick also showed the girls amazing photos that he has collected during the time he has worked at our observatory. As a result of this experience, many girls plan to come back to the observatory during one of the Thursday night viewings. In case you don’t know, Rick Bria is on campus on Thursday nights for the community to view the skies. It is definitely an awesome experience.
